When he assumed office on July last year, Gov. Natalio “Jojo” Beltran III immediately ordered the repairs, rehabilitation and construction of public infrastructures in several barangays and towns in the province.

Energetic as his late father Natalio “Puti” Beltran Jr., a Public Works and Highways Deputy Minister and a former Romblon Assemblyman and Congressman, the younger Beltran was able to solicit government funds and resources including contributions from private entities to supplement his major projects for the Seventeen (17) municipalities of Romblon.

Having one vision with Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan together with the support of the majority of the municipal mayors, they were able to fully implement and accomplish the pro-poor projects and not to mention the program “Bayan Nating Mahal”.

Beltran jumpstarted by immediately directing the Provincial Engineering’s Office (PEO) for the rehabilitation/renovation of the Freedom Park and the Capitol Park located in Romblon, Romblon

Beltran also ordered the renovation of the Romblon Provincial Extension Office in Barangay Tabing-Dagat, Odiongan and the Romblon Investment and Tourism Promotion Office (RITPO) in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, In several barangays, Beltran distributed jet matic pumps and water pipes, so that clean and potable water will be readily available for the people. He also ordered for the repainting of the barangay halls in one color to signify unity.

In the town of Odiongan, the Office of the Provincial Engineer reported the construction of the Provincial Government Training Center and the Training Center for Farmers in Barangay Rizal. Gov. Beltran is committed to allot additional funds for the completion of the said project.

In Barangay Canduyong, Odiongan, the Engineering’s Office already laid down the program of work for the opening of the Barangay Canduyong and Anahao bridges. This will enhance accessibility in terms of transporting the agricultural and marine produce from these two barangays to the town proper.

On his First One Hundred days as Chief Executive, Beltran unveiled a bold plan of constructing a baywalk at the Odiongan Boulevard which will become one of the attractions of the town. The structure will also serves as a barrier that will protect the coastal residents during typhoon season. The said projects are ready for implementation this year.

Among the projects completed late last year were the re-gravelling and rip-rapping of Bonlao-Cahayagan road in Alcantara; rehabilitation of Tan-agan – Tinaan provincial road and Jun Carlo-Mari Norte farm to market road in San Andres town. In Sibuyan Island, the repair of Taguilos-Lumbang-Marigondon provincial road in Cajidiocan; rehabilitation and improvements of Canjalon-Otod-Azagra-Campalingo national roads and the Pili-Taclobo-Cantingas-Espana national road, in San Fernando were all completed.

In other towns in the island of Tablas, the Engineering’s Office reported completion of the concreting of a provincial road in Barangay Recto in Ferrol. Construction of Lunga-og bridge and rehabilitation/repair of the RPH Dispensary building is ongoing; construction of bridges and national roads were also completed in the municipalities of Sta. Fe, San Andres and Alcantara.

In the town Sta. Fe, the PEO reported the completion of repair of the seawall in barangay Agmanic and the reconstruction of bridges in barangays Agong and Santol.
